Since Hamas’ attack, Israel has pushed dozens of online ads, including graphic videos, to millions of people to drum up support for its actions.

Since Hamas attacked thousands of its citizens last week, the Israeli government has started a sweeping social media campaign in key Western countries to drum up support for its military response against the group. Part of its strategy: pushing dozens of ads containing brutal and emotional imagery of the deadly militant violence in Israel across platforms such as X and YouTube, according to data reviewed by POLITICO.

Seemingly as part of this campaign, the Israeli government has been coordinating social media talking points to embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions. As you’ll see in this compilation image, the text is almost identical across many posts from accounts around the world.

You might have noticed one post from New Zealand among those.

The Israel Institute of New Zealand describes itself as “An independent think tank dedicated to providing a better understanding of Israel through accurate analysis, insightful commentary, and effective advocacy.” So not exactly a diplomatic or consular body.

The readers can judge for themselves why IINZ would voluntarily amplify Israeli government talking points.
